International Women's Day Spotlight - Lindsey Menezes

International Women’s Day - when we take a moment to hype up the incredible women who are smashing ceilings, rewriting the rules, and making workplaces (and the world) better for everyone. And today, we’re shining the spotlight on one such legend: Lindsey Menezes, Managing Director of Pace VIC.

Lindsey’s journey from an Economics and Commerce graduate to leading a top recruitment firm is nothing short of inspiring. She’s all about championing diversity, mentoring up-and-comers, and proving that leadership and kindness can absolutely go hand in hand.

We sat down with Lindsey for a Q&A to hear her thoughts on career growth, breaking barriers, and the advice she’d give her younger self. So, grab your beverage of choice and soak up the wisdom - there’s plenty to go around.

What advice do you have for women just starting out their recruitment career?

Be hungry to learn and ask a lot of questions (from everyone!). Find a mentor that you bond with and focus on quality interactions that you can leverage in a meaningful way rather than quantity for the sake of achieving volume.

What inspired you to step into leadership?

I am passionate about seeing my team thrive but also navigating tougher times with them. This way we can all professionally and personally develop together. I don’t always get it right, but if I can lead by example, show that persistence is key and take a collaborative approach to strategy that sees our outcomes being hit then I feel so fulfilled!

Who was the most influential woman in your career? Why?

I don’t have anyone in particular but I am inspired every day by my female clients and candidates who juggle life, family and their careers. I see working women every day who hustle and bear the load. Watching these women get through their day-to-day challenges is beyond inspiring. Women are so inspiring!

What can our male allies do to uplift women and advance equality in the workplace?

There are so many things that men can do to bridge the inequality between the sexes in the workplace:

  • Don’t be silent- if you see discrimination speak out about it. Talk to your peers, team and managers about it.

  • Advocate the women who are doing amazing work; it is most likely that they’re not forthcoming with their own successes so spread the word and make it known!

  • Create a working environment and working arrangements that support women’s needs at all life stages including a flexible workplace culture (this doesn’t necessarily have to be working from home – it can be job share opportunities, flexible start and finish times, policies around leave, breastfeeding friendly rooms etc)

  • Promote women into leadership opportunities – successful women need to be visible as role models

  • Mentor women who show potential and commitment

Conclusion:

And there we have it - insight, wisdom, and a whole lot of inspiration from someone who isn’t just working in the recruitment space but actively shaping it. Lindsey’s take on leadership, diversity, and backing yourself is the kind of energy we need more of - not just today, but every day.

So, as we celebrate International Women’s Day, let’s take a page out of Lindsey’s book: support each other, challenge the status quo, and lift as we climb. Because when women succeed, everyone wins.
